Why do you have to ruin it?

So, I've been known to be a fan of the tough woman movies/shows. For instance: Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Alias, or Miss Congeniality. But the thing that kills me is when someone complains about how not real it is. Logically I know that Angelina Jolie really did not do a front wheelie on her motorcycle and knock the guy out with her back tire. But it wouldn't be cool if she did? Isn't it fun to think about being that tough self sufficient FBI agent who also has the ability to almost win a beauty pageant? Can't I pretend to be the girl who can dress up in 100 different wigs and not be recognized by the guy from the last episode? Cuz that is what I want to do. When I turn on the TV or go to a movie, I don't want to watch reality. If I did, I'd watch the reality shows. Unfortunately, when I come out of the movie theater there is someone else complaining about the lack of this or that, or the obvious special effects they did. Well guess what, some of us like the dreamt-up fiction, it's why we watch these movies.

And while discussing movies that others complain about often. You know those cheesy Man vs. Nature Sci-Fi's? Lost in Space, Day After Tomorrow, Armageddon, and (my personal favorite) The Core. I know what I'm gonna see when I go to these movies. It can be summed in 3 simple lines. 1) The world is ending. 2) Some complicated scientific explanation on how to save it. 3) Some display of heroism, some love story mixed in, and a happy ending. And then people come out of these movies hating how predictable it is. What did you expect? Did ya watch the trailer? Why are you disappointed? I personally went to the movie because I wanted to see "The world is ending. Some complicated scientific explanation on how to save it. Some display of heroism, some love story mixed in, and a happy ending," and I did.

So in summary, just let me enjoy my fiction, my world of jumping off the roof onto the skid of the helicopter and successfully escaping from whomever I just stole top secret intelligence information. Its fun to live in that world occasionally.

If You Like to Talk to Tomatoes

Well, for those of you who don't know, our backyard is a tad on the small side. It works well for us, because it's just the two of us and we don't have time to do yard work. So here's a view of what our yard has looked like for the last year or more.

We both grew up with fresh tomatoes from a home garden. Now, I NEVER have had a green thumb, and NEVER have I seriously tried to grow anything. But fresh tomatoes just sounded SO good. So, after more than a year of work, putting in a drip system, mixing the terrible desert dirt, building up the dirt to hide the footer of our back wall, getting manuer for Christmas (thanks mom!), we have finally finished our garden! Check it out!
And we even made a walkway to the garden. (so we don't have to put shoes on!)

We planted 4 tomato plants (I wasn't kidding about tomatoes), 1 strawberry plant, 1 parsley plant, and we hope the 2 lilies we planted last year might come back (because we replanted the bulbs).

I'm just excited it looks like our yard has something to it.

Pilot

Why "Geekily Ever After"? Because that's what I am. I am happily married to the most wonderful man. However, to make life interesting, my husband and I are both engineers. We both have many geeky characteristics but try to give the illusion of being normal.
So sit back and enjoy the ride of what happens when two geeks fall in love.
